American Association of Employees and Self-Employed Persons

On June 19, 2018 the U.S. Department of Labor issued its Final Rule in accordance with its regulations (20 CFR 2910) under Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) for the purpose of broadening the criteria of what constitutes an “employee welfare benefit plan” also defined as an “ASSOCIATION HEALTH PLAN.” This Final Rule shall have a direct effect on our not-for-profit membership organization the American Association of Employees and Self-Employed Persons (AAESEP).

Last December, through the Tax Reform Act Congress removed the Obamacare mandate to purchase health insurance or be required to pay a penalty. Because of this AAESEP is currently developing low cost health insurance plans for our members.

If you become a member of AAESEP (remember you do not pay any dues the first year) you will be eligible to be offered low cost health insurance through the Association. When the plans become available you be given ample time to review the benefits and their costs with no obligation to purchase.

We here at AAESEP believe that work today is something quite different than what work was even 10 years ago. Today, for example, work and play are not necessarily dichotomous but may in fact be one and the same. Today, with the advent of new and developing technologies it allows the full range of human talent, experience and knowledge to come together in one dynamic crucible. Therefore as difficult and troubling these times may be for employees and self-employed persons they are also exciting and challenging. We at AAESEP want to take part in your economic challenges and development. We want to become your guide, your leader, your follower, your friend. And in order to do that we want you to become a member of AAESEP. So please complete the membership application. And membership in AAESEP means more than the completion of an application. It means you will become part of an active group of employees or self-employed persons in your local community and your state and have a direct say in what you want AAESEP to be for you.

I will be speaking to you as President of AAESEP at this site about the world of work and the recent events and happenings affecting it. I also want to hear from you and you can reach me by clicking roger.madon@aaesep.org. Welcome aboard!
